DR. Michael Rees

Dr. Michael Rees As Director of the CertFM Program.

The Certificate in Financial Modelling and Data Analysis was originally conceived, designed, and written by Dr. Michael Rees. He is a leading expert in the use of quantitative modelling for applications in business, decision-making, economics, finance, and risk assessment. He is an author, consultant, and trainer, and works with clients all around the world and in many industry sectors, and on a range of complex decision situations.

During his more than 30 years’ experience, he has trained over 3000 people in face-to-face classroom settings. Starting in 2010, Dr. Rees became increasingly aware of the need to create a credible professional qualification in financial modelling: One with a clear definition and scope, and which recognises the potential richness and complexity of the topic.

The CertFM Program has been designed based not only on his experience and knowledge, but also through extensive research and development activities, and input from other professionals, academics, and experts. The scope of the program is regularly benchmarked not only by on-going interactions with practitioners and clients, but also by reviewing the content of related programs (such as MBAs, Masters in Finance, the CFA, as well as programs in advanced data analysis, for example). It is also updated regularly as relevant additional functionality becomes available in Excel. The overall scope and depth are far larger than in any book, classroom training or on-line programs.
